Joe's 68 Blue Bug

Joe's car was a big project.  I am not sure if he even knew what kind of damage was done due to the salt and years of neglect.

Joe is in the Air Force and did not have much time or money to get a full resto so we worked out a deal to paint the exterior of the car.  Once work began we found loads of cancer.  Just about every corner had some sort of damage to it.

The hood was so rusty you could actually see through it.  The roof channels were rusted at the seam and had ate all the way through the paint.

It had also come to light that there were possibly 8-12 paint jobs on the car.  Several of the rust spots that had been covered with POR-15 (anti-rust coating) and filled improperly with bondo.

After several weeks of just sanding and priming and more sanding we started to see the car come together.  As you can see the car came way better than it went in.

ENJOY!

What the customer had to say:

Just wanted to pass on to you the great work that was done on my 68 bug by Dave at Dubwerkz (925-447-2500). His shop expertly handled all the body work my car needed and beautifully painted my car. I shopped around quite a bit for a painter and eventually went with Dave. The shop was fair, honest and always returned every email and answered every phone call. They even sent me picture updates as the work was being completed. The car was in pretty bad shape when they got it. I used to drive it daily in the snow and rain all over Washington State, New Jersey and Ohio. There were plenty of troubled areas they had to clean up, including cutting some bad metal out and welding in some new metal. Now the car looks great.

If you are in need of a fair and honest shop, consider Dave and his crew at Dubwerks. They were not the cheapest, but they were also not the most expensive. After an evaluation of the car, they gave me an honest estimate and idea of what had to be done and they were pretty darn close when the car was finished.

The shop is located in Livermore CA which was very convenient for me. If you live in the Central Coast, San Jose, San Fran, Santa Cruz area they are a short drive away.

Now I can't wait to get my new motor installed (1915, Engle 130, IDAs, Steve Tims Stage 2 heads) and start cruising!
