John's 65 Hardtop

This car means so much to me words just cannot explain it.  Lets start from the beginning.  This was my neighbors car for about 20 years before I got it.  Actually I had my eye on this car for about 5 years before I was able to purchase it off him.  I remember the day I bought it, it was raining.  February 3rd 1996.  I wasn't even able to drive yet and I had my first car.  I pulled it into the garage and started to tear into it.  Most of the seals were shot and it leaked so much water.  I had to take buckets to get all the water out.  Over the next few months I worked on every aspect of the car.  Of course I really had no idea what the hell I was doing so most of it has to be redone anyways.

This is a GEX 2110.  YA YA YA, I know.  Yes a GEX.  When I bought it the internet had almost no presence and there wasn't the community there is today.  So know I know.  Here are the pics.  The engine had water in it.  It sat in a garage for 6 years before I pulled it apart and before that it sat outside for a winter with 3 covers on it.  Not sure how the water got in there but not much was save able.

So after some searching I ran across a gentleman that will remain nameless.  He worked with Dave in the past and wanted to use him to paint my car.  Well after a short yet successful negotiation we came upon a price and the car was removed from my mothers house and trailed to Dave's.  Once the car left I was a little worried as it had not been out of my site for the decade I had owned it.  But alas without challenge there is no progress.  Here is what the car went through in my absence.  My roof had a few dents on it and just to be safe we had to smooth them out with a little filler.  The rear apron was hiding some rust in the corners so that had to be fixed as well.  My original doors were converted to one piece windows and I wanted them back but with the trim holes filled in.  So more body work had to be done.

Here is my pan being fixed.  Dave decided the dent was going to slow me down to much and had to use a body hammer to get it straight.
